Commonwealth Glasgow 2026: MINEPDED receives and signs for the King's Relay Baton today 22 July
The symbolic handing of the Relay Baton of the Commonwealth Games is scheduled to take place in Cameroon from 22 to 25 July in Yaounde and Douala.

The theme of this edition is tainted with ecological overtones which translates the commitment of Commonwealth countries in the promotion of a healthy and sound environment, including the domain of sports and athletics.
The focus this year is on the fight against plastic waste related water pollution: "Bringing the athletes and communities together to prevent 1 million plastic materials from entering oceans and waterways of the Commonwealth before Glasgow 2026".
A delegation of the National Olympic and Sports Committee/ Cameroon Association of Commonwealth Games, headed by Colonel Ahmad KALKABA MALBOUM, was the bearer of the King's Baton which was presented to Minister HELE Pierre and his team, in a solemn and convivial atmosphere. The Minister then proceeded to sign it off. The Baton was later presented to the Prime Minister, Head of Government.
In his welcome address, Minister HELE Pierre appreciated and congratulated the National Olympic and Sports Committee and all participants at this edition of the King's Relay Baton. He invited the sports community and all citizens to take part in activities to mark the activation of the Baton, slated for 25 July in Douala (beach cleaning, awareness walk, tournament and animations...).
