The Finance Bill of the Republic of Cameroon for the 2025 Financial Year has been adopted at the National Assembly

The draft finance law of the Republic of Cameroon for the 2025 financial year was adopted this Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the National Assembly.

The Finance Bill of the Republic of Cameroon was adopted at the National Assembly, today, Sunday, 8 December 2024 at the Yaounde Conference Centre during a Plenary Sitting that was chaired by the Right Honorable Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril. The Speaker was assisted in his duties during the Sitting by Hon. Paul Eric Djomgoue, Secretary of the Bureau of the National Assembly and by Mr. Essian Andre Noel, the Secretary General of the National Assembly.

The first part of the Plenary Sitting opened with a detailed presentation of the report of the Finance Law. This report is a compilation of the debate that took place between Members of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly and Government Ministers when they were defending their respective proposed budgets before the aforementioned Committee. The report was presented by Hon. NDONGO ETEME Edgar, the Rapporteur Generale of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly.

The second phase of the Sitting was characterized by questions and answers. A total of six Members of the National Assembly took to the rostrum to put across diverse questions to three Government Ministers. They were: Hon. Osih Joshua, Hon. Cabral LIBII, Hon. Jean Michel Nitcheu, Hon. Nkoupit Adamou, Hon. Foju Bernard and Hon. Essomba Bengono Engelbert. The Members of Government who were taken to task were: Mr. MANAOUDA Malachie, the Minister of Public Health, Mr. NGANOU DJOUMESSI, the Minister of Public Works and Mr. Louis Paul Motaze, the Minister of Finance. 

The Right Honorable Speaker concluded the Plenary Sitting by first, presenting an overview of all the articles of the 2025 Finance Law. This was followed by adoption of the Law by the National Assembly. The over five hours Plenary Sitting saw the overwhelming presence of all Government Ministers and the entire Senior Administrative Staff of the National Assembly. It is important to note that the 2025 State Budget that has been voted at the National Assembly stands at 7 317.7 billion.
