National Assembly : Opening of the March 2023 Ordinary Session

This Friday, March 3, 2023, was the opening plenary sitting for the 2023 Legislative Year.

In conformity with the Standing Orders of the House, the opening plenary sitting was chaired by the Provisional Bureau which is made up of Hon. Koa Mfegue Laurentine Epse Mbede, the oldest Member of the National Assembly, Hon. Aïcha Blanche Jacqueline Dague and Hon. Nafisatou Alim, who are the two youngest Members of the August Institution. With the corum checked and confirmed, the Eldest Member asked the House to rise to sing the National Anthem. Hon. Koa Mfegue then opened the proceedings.In her opening speech, she spoke about several topical issues, including a tribute in honour of Hon.Tak Bienvenu who died on 22 December last year. She asked the House Chamber to rise and pay the departed MP a minute of silence. After the tribute, she talked at length on some National an International recent happenings.The Eldest Member praised the work of the media and she insisted on the respect of the ethics of the profession.
