Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, a leader by excellence
The Rt. Hon. Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril was at the construction site of the New National Assembly Complex as early as 9:45am on Friday 26 August 2022. On hand to receive him were some Bureau Members, a host of Parliamentarians, Members of the follow - up Commitee for the construction, the first Deputy Secretary General and Directors of the National Assembly. The focus of his visit this time around was at the old National Assembly building which will serve in a no distant future as a museum. He was led around with his delegation that accompanied him by Hon. Datouo Theodore, President of the follow up Commitee. The delegation was firstly led into the old Plenary Hall.
Here, explanations of how the place and it's content will be preserved and opened to the public for visits in the future. The Speaker gave the team guidelines on what should be done as far as preserving the history of the National Assembly is concern. This visit had two prominent guests who were; Dr. Esther Olembe, Director of the National Archives and Dr. Hugues Heumen Tchana, Director of the National Museum. They both gave their expert analysis on how the Parliamentary history will be displayed in the museum.
They also emphasized strongly on the importance of the project which they said will edify young Cameroonians about the history of the National Assembly. The Speaker ended his visit with an inspection of the work that has been done so far since he left the site two months ago with the Prime Minister, Head of Government. One of the principal information that emerged from Hon. Datouo is that the entire project is now at a seventy percent realization rate. According to Hon. He added that everything is moving on as planned.
