Promoting Social Dialogue : National Assembly reinforces the capacities of its staff delegates

For four days, staff Delegates of the National Assembly underwent training on the promotion of social dialogue at their work place. The 23 delegates sharpened their skills at the Cradat international college which is specized in training labour officials.

According to a source close to the Human Resources and Judiciary Affairs Department of the National Assembly, the institution decided to send it's delegate for training with the sole objective that they carry out their duties of defending the rights of staff effectively. The source also disclosed that it is the wish of the National Assembly to promote social dialogue through impacting appropriate training to it's staff delegates

The believe is also that if the delegates are fully aware of their rights and obligations, there will be little misinterpretation of what is expected of them. During the training at Cradat, the delegates were drilled first of all on the differences between the role of staff representatives and a syndicate. The main focus of the training among many other modules was focused on the promotion of social dialogue in an enterprise (Institution in the case of the National Assembly.  

On the last day of their training which they also received attestations, many of them that spoke to the press indicated that they have been well equipped with knowledge that will help them to adequately defend the rights of their peers. They also said they are not rivals with the administration but rather they are the bridge that will transmit the problems of staff to the administration so solutions can be obtained on record time. 

The delegates expressed their wish to get further training as they look forward to always uphold social dialogue at all times in the National Assembly of Cameroon. They unanimously thanked the Rt. Hon. Speaker for the wonderful opportunity he offered them to be trained. They also thanked Mr. Abdoullaye Dauoda, the first assistant secretary General of the National Assembly for all the measures he took to facilitate their training.
