June 2022 Ordinary Session of Parliament : Rt. Hon. Speaker, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril once again sails the National Assembly ship to save shores

It was indeed an intensive 30 days of Parliamentary showdown. The June 2022 Session was intense from the first to the last day. The captain of the Ship (the Speaker) personally chaired all the Chairmen Conferences that were dedicated to receive bills from the President of the Republic (Executive). He also chaired a good number of Plenary Sittings that bills were scrutinized and adopted. Out of the Plenary Hall, the Speaker recently visited and evaluated the evolution of the new National Assembly edifice which is under construction.

He was accompanied this time around by the Prime Minister, Head of Government and the Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon. In his closing speech today 6 July 2022, he said among other things that all 2022  official exams have gone hitch free across the National territory thanks to the commitment and personal involvement of the Head of State H. E. President Paul Biya whom he said took appropriate measures that brought back normalcy in the education sector.

Some Plenary Sittings and activities throughout the June Session were chaired by the Senior Deputy Speaker and the other five Deputy Speakers according to how they were programmed. Members of Parliament on their part defended the interest of their people with commitment and dexterity. They were massively present in all the Plenary and  Committee meetings.

The report card of the session is without any doubt very bright. Members of Parliament examined and adopted 7 Bills of major importance. Three oral question sessions were held which Mps grilled Ministers on pertinent issues affecting their Constituencies in particular and the Country as a whole. On the other hand, Ministers gave convincing and adequate answers to all the preoccupations of MPs.

The June 2022 Session also witnessed a number of seminars that were organized by Parliamentary networks. It should be recalled that National Assembly Parliamentary networks are designed to handle specific economic and social problems in our society. Information and briefing sessions were also held between some Committees and the Ministers concern. Their deliberations were also focused on topical issues affecting the life of the Nation. With all of these accomplished, we are confident to say that the National Assembly attained it's mission on all fronts.

The back-office of Parliamentary activities during the just ended session was manned by the infatigable First Assistant Secretary General of the National Assembly, Mr. Abdoullaye Daouda. He left no stone unturned in ensuring that the Parliamentary staff accompanied the MPs in all the activities they carried out in this Session. I will not end this article without thanking the Media Organs across the National territory for the tremendous job they did to relay all the activities of the session to Cameroonians.

We still believe in the logic that the more people are aware of what is being done by Members of Parliament, doubts and speculations will be eradicated in the  nearest future. The entire Communication family of the National Assembly will continue to expand it's collaboration with Media Organs until every Cameroonian comes to the awareness of how Parliamentary business is conducted.
