Activities of the National Assembly, today 31 March 2023

Friday, March 31, 2023 was particularly an intense day for Members of the National Assembly. The activities started at 11am at the Yaoundé Conference Centre which is currently playing host to the National Assembly. The first activity of the day was a Capacity Building Seminar for MPs which was placed on the theme: MPs advocate for Strong Policies for Quality Education: Key to the Achievement of the MDGs in Cameroon. The seminar took place at the Plenary Hall of the Conference Centre under the chairmanship of Hon. KOMBO GBERI, Deputy Speaker, Personal Representative of the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the National Assembly CAVAYE YEGUIE DJIBRIL.

The proceedings started with the welcome address of Hon. Njume Peter, Executive Chairman of the Parliamentary Network on the Evaluation, Valorization and Improvement of the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals for the Emergence of Cameroon << PADEV-CAM>>. 

His speech was followed by a word from the Head of UNICEF and finally the opening speech of the seminar was delivered by the Representative of the Speaker of the National Assembly. After this phase, the actual work began with the active participation of MPs who stayed very attentive to the presentations of the various speakers. The objective of the seminar was to strengthen parliamentary action to accelerate the achievement of the MDGs in Cameroon in general and MDG4 in particular. Simultaneously in Committee Room A of the Yaoundé Conference Centre, a workshop on the protection of children online in Cameroon was held. The seminar was organized by the Committee on Constitutional Laws, Human Rights and Freedoms, Justice, Legislation and Administrative Regulations. The deliberations were chaired by Hon. ZONDOL HERSESSE. At 3:00pm, it was the turn of the Economic Affairs, Planning and Regional Development Committee that held it's meeting in the Committee Room A of the Conference Centre. 

The meeting was about building the capacities of Members of the said Committee on information on Public enterprises and public establishments in Cameroon. The proceedings were chaired by Hon. MBE ASSAE MENDOMO, Chairman of the said Committee. The Foreign Affairs Committee closed this day of intensive activities at the National Assembly with a meeting that they held at the Committee Room B of the Yaoundé Conference Centre. The Members of the Committee exchanged on the Economic Partnerships with friendly Countries, Agreements: assessment and prospects. Their meeting saw the presence of several experts. This Information and Exchange Sitting was chaired by Hon. Banmi Emmanuel.
