National Assembly: Triumphant return of the honorable Etang to Yaoundé

The new President of the Francophonie Parliamentary Association and also Vice-President of the National Assembly, the Honorable Hilarion ETONG returned to Cameroon, yesterday, shortly before midnight, the day after his election at the head of this organization in Montreal, Canada.

The wait was long but it was worth waiting for the newly elected President of the Francophonie Parliamentary Association (APF) who arrived his Country Cameroon deep into the night than he was expected. The Senior Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, President of the Cameroon Chapter of APF, Honorable Hilarion Etong, was welcomed at 11:00pm, on Monday 15 July 2024 at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport in the capacity of his new office that he obtained at the 49th Ordinary Session of the Francophonie Parliamentary Association that held from the 6th to 9th of July 2024 in Montreal, Canada.

He was welcomed back home by some Members of Parliament. Also, highly present at the airport were Senior Administrative Staff of the National Assembly. They were led by the First Deputy Secretary General of the National Assembly, Mr. ABDOULLAYE DAOUDA, personal representative of the Secretary General of the National Assembly, Mr. Essian André Noël. The First Deputy Secretary General was accompanied by Justice Godwill OKIA MUKETE, Second Deputy Secretary General of the National Assembly.

The massive presence of Traditional Authorities, a jubilant crowd, four speeches and a spectacular dance display graced the triumphant arrival to Cameroon of this distinguished Lawmaker whose success has once again raised very high the flag of the Country in the Parliamentary International spotlight. After the colorful ceremony at the airport, one of the longest car convoys ever seen by this reporter headed by the brand-new President of APF left the airport for the capital City, Yaoundé at 12:30am.
